Guest speakers: Karen Strudwick, Eric Stathers

A simple poster of her family tree was about all that ENN member Karen Strudwick expected to work on while she waited for COVID to end. Instead, she found herself on a Caribbean treasure hunt into her family's past that produced a book of stories for her son.

Join Karen as she shares what she unearthed with the help of volunteers, including members of ENN. One of those volunteers, Eric Stathers will bring his expertise in self-publishing to this discussion and outline simple ways to share your own stories with family and friends.

Please join us to learn about Karen's adventures in ancestry research. You might want to try it yourself!

Our Speakers:

Eric Stathers is a former business executive with Microsoft and other notable technology companies in Seattle and Silicon Valley. He received his M.B.A. and B.Sc. in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia, and is a graduate of the Stanford University Executive Management Program. Since retiring, he has served on the Board of Eden Reforestation Projects, published six family history books, and teaches "Self-Publish your Writing", through the Telos program at Bellevue College. Born in British Columbia, Eric has made his home in the United States for more than 30 years.

After graduating from Ryerson University in Toronto, Karen Strudwick worked as a professional writer, editor, and manager, building her career in journalism, book publishing, and finally online publishing at Microsoft. Although she was born and raised in Jamaica, she has spent most of her adult life in various parts of the Pacific Northwest. Since retiring, Karen has traveled widely, learned Braille, and unearthed her family's history.
